Get Help With Your Dominica Passport Renewal & Replacement

When your passport approaches expiry, no longer meets Dominica’s biometric standards, or is lost, stolen, damaged, or no longer matches your personal details, we take over the paperwork so that you are never left without a valid travel document.

Renewal or replacement: which procedure applies to your case

Both procedures end with a new Dominica passport. What differs is the legal ground for the application, the evidence the authorities expect, and how long it takes. We confirm the correct route before anything is filed.

When you should renew your passport

Renewal applies when the passport has expired or is close to expiry.

Dominica passports are valid for 10 years for holders aged 16 and over, and for 5 years for children under 16.

When a replacement is required

Replacement applies when the document is gone or can no longer be used and represent you:

  • no blank pages are left for visas or stamps;
  • passport is a machine-readable document rather than a biometric ePassport.
  • passport has been lost or stolen;
  • passport is damaged beyond the condition acceptable for travel;
  • your personal details have changed by law, usually after marriage or divorce.

Since January 31st, 2023, Dominica citizens can no longer leave the country on a machine-readable passport, only a biometric ePassport is accepted, so holders of the older document need a Dominica passport renewal before their next trip rather than waiting for the expiry date[1].

Report a lost or stolen passport immediately — to the nearest police station, a Dominica Consulate or High Commission, or, if you are in Dominica, the Immigration Department in Roseau. A replacement following loss or theft costs more than a standard one and is usually supported by an affidavit describing the circumstances.

How to renew or replace a Dominica passport with Immigrant Invest

Timeframes depend on the grounds for the application: renewal takes around 1—2 months and replacement needs around 1 month, with roughly 2 weeks of that spent on government processing.

We check your expiry date and citizenship records, establish whether your case is a renewal or a replacement, and confirm the right route for your country of residence.

Our lawyers complete the forms, prepare any required affidavits, and arrange notarisation, translation, and certification. If the passport was lost or stolen, we guide you through the official reporting requirement.

We lodge the application through the Passport Office of Dominica, a Dominica Consulate, or a representative submission, and arrange courier delivery where needed.

The authorities verify the documents and complete their checks.

For a replacement, an interview is not mandatory but may be required. If one is scheduled, we help you prepare for it.

Once approved, the passport is released for collection or onward delivery. We verify the details and arrange secure delivery, including a notarised authorisation if someone collects it on your behalf.

Frequently asked questions

  • Renewal applies to a document that is expiring.

    Replacement applies when the passport has been lost, stolen, or damaged, when your legal personal details have changed, it has run out of blank pages, or is still a machine-readable passport rather than a biometric passport.

    The result is the same new passport; the evidence required and the cost are not.

  • You submit a Dominica passport renewal application built around a completed Commonwealth of Dominica passport renewal form, your current or old passport, your Certificate of Naturalisation, recent photographs, and proof of payment.

    Immigrant Invest manages the entire Dominica passport renewal process on your behalf, from document preparation to the delivery of the new passport.

  • Report it as soon as possible — to the nearest police station, a Dominica Consulate or High Commission, or the Immigration Department in Roseau if you are in Dominica. Keep any report or reference number, since it supports the replacement application.

    Immigrant Invest coordinates the reporting and the replacement filing with the Dominica authorities on your behalf.

  • Any citizen of Dominica whose passport is expiring, no longer meets current standards, or has been lost, stolen, damaged, or affected by a legal change of personal details. You may act for yourself or through a legal representative holding power of attorney, and a licensed agent can manage the entire procedure on your behalf.

  • A Dominica passport renewal usually takes 1—2 months, depending on the workload of the Passport Office and consular logistics. A replacement takes about 1 month on average, of which roughly 2 weeks is government processing; emergencies can be processed faster.

  • For a renewal, you generally need a completed Dominica passport renewal form, your existing passport, Certificate of Naturalisation, the Treasury receipt proving fee payment, and two recent photographs. A replacement additionally calls for a Dominica passport replacement form and, where the passport was lost or stolen, a police report.

    Requirements can vary depending on how you obtained citizenship and where you apply.

  • Since January 31st, 2023, Dominica citizens cannot leave the country on a machine-readable passport — a biometric ePassport is required for travel. If your passport predates this standard, it is sufficient grounds for renewal, even if it has not yet expired, and we recommend applying before your next trip rather than waiting.

  • The Dominica passport renewal fee is $75 per person. Replacing a passport that was destroyed, lost, or stolen costs $2,000.

    An amendment to the information already on your passport costs $150, while a replacement triggered by a legal name change costs $3,200 in total: a $1,200 processing fee plus a $2,000 Due Diligence fee.

    Applying through a diplomatic mission may add consular handling charges.
