From the first renewal onwards, adults aged 16 and over receive 10-year passports, children under 16 — 5-year ones.
When a replacement is required
Replacement applies when the document is gone or can no longer represent you:
- passport has been lost or stolen;
- passport is damaged beyond the condition acceptable for travel;
- your personal details have changed by law, usually a name change after marriage or divorce.
