Get Help With Your Antigua Passport Renewal & Replacement

When your passport approaches expiry or is lost, stolen, damaged, or no longer matches your personal details, we take over the paperwork so that you are never left without a valid travel document.

Renewal or replacement: which procedure applies to your case

Both procedures end with a new biometric passport. What differs is the legal ground for the application, the evidence the authorities expect, and how long it takes. We confirm the correct route before anything is filed.

When you should renew your passport

Renewal applies while the document is still valid in law but is running out of use:

  • passport has expired or is close to expiry;
  • no blank pages are left for visas or stamps;
  • document no longer meets the security and biometric standards in force.

The first passport issued under the Citizenship by Investment Programme is valid for 5 years, and renewing it requires a qualifying stay in Antigua and Barbuda within that period.

From the first renewal onwards, adults aged 16 and over receive 10-year passports, children under 16 — 5-year ones.

When a replacement is required

Replacement applies when the document is gone or can no longer represent you:

  • passport has been lost or stolen;
  • passport is damaged beyond the condition acceptable for travel;
  • your personal details have changed by law, usually a name change after marriage or divorce.

Report a lost or stolen passport as soon as you notice it missing. Reporting invalidates it, which protects you from identity misuse; it also means a recovered document cannot be used again and has to be handed back to the Passport Office or the nearest Immigration Office.

Documents required for passport renewal or replacement

The package depends on the grounds for your application and where you file it. We issue a checklist for your case; anything not in English is translated and notarised.

    • Completed Antigua and Barbuda passport renewal or replacement form
    • Your current, expired, or previous passport, where it is available
    • Certified copy of your birth certificate
    • Certified copy of your marriage certificate, if applicable
    • Proof of citizenship — a Certificate of Registration
    • Two recent photos
    • Proof that the government fee has been paid
    • Certified copy of the oath of allegiance, if the original was never deposited
    • Evidence that the investment has been held for 5 years
    • Evidence of the qualifying stay in the country
    • Police report, where the passport was lost or stolen
    • Affidavit setting out the circumstances of the loss or damage
    • Documentary proof of a change of name — a marriage certificate, divorce decree, or deed poll

Antigua and Barbuda passport renewal fee and replacement cost

Renewing the first 5-year passport under the Citizenship by Investment Programme, the fee is charged per person:

  • $1,000 — each applicant aged 18 and over;
  • $500 — each applicant under 18.

Filing for passport replacement through a diplomatic mission abroad, each mission sets its own tariff: £100 in the United Kingdom, $180 for a 32-page passport in the United States, CAD 340 in Canada. Filing in Antigua and Barbuda, fees are payable in Eastern Caribbean dollars and confirmed by the Passport Office on lodging.

Consular surcharges and courier costs may apply. We confirm the exact Antigua and Barbuda passport replacement fee or renewal fee for your case before filing.

How to renew or replace an Antigua and Barbuda passport with Immigrant Invest

Timeframes depend on the grounds for the application:

  • renewal — around 1.5 months;
  • replacement of a damaged passport — at least 1 month;
  • replacement of a lost or stolen passport — potentially more than 3 months, because an immigration investigation must be completed before the new document can be produced.

We check your expiry dates and citizenship records, establish whether your case is a renewal or a replacement, and identify the right submission channel for your country of residence.

Where the qualifying stay is relevant, we confirm the requirement in force and advise on the evidence you will need. You receive a personalised action plan and document checklist.

Our lawyers complete the forms, draft any required affidavits, and arrange notarisation, translation, and consular certification. If the passport was lost or stolen, we guide you through obtaining the police report.

We lodge the documents through the appropriate authority. If personal attendance is required, you receive precise instructions, and we coordinate the logistics with you.

The Passport Office issues a Memorandum Form and refers the case to the Immigration Department. An Immigration Officer conducts an interview, records a Witness Statement Form, and investigates the reported loss or theft, then sends a report back to the Passport Office.

Production of the new passport begins only once this check is closed. We prepare you for the interview and keep the two departments in contact.

The Passport Office verifies the documents, completes its internal checks, and approves the case. The new document is a biometric ePassport compliant with ICAO standards.

Processing time depends on workload and on whether the case is handled locally or through an overseas mission.

We verify the details in the new passport, then arrange secure delivery through the relevant diplomatic mission or an approved courier. Delivery time varies by destination and service.

Frequently asked questions

  • Renewal applies to a document that is expiring, has run out of blank pages, or no longer meets current biometric standards.

    Replacement applies when the passport has been lost, stolen, or damaged, or when your legal personal details have changed.

    The end result is the same new biometric ePassport; the evidence required and the processing time are not.

  • To renew an Antigua and Barbuda passport, you file a completed Antigua and Barbuda passport renewal form together with recent photographs, your current or expired passport, and the supporting documents your case calls for.

    Immigrant Invest runs the procedure end to end: document preparation, certification, submission, and secure delivery of the new passport.

  • Report it first, then file an Antigua and Barbuda passport replacement form supported by a police report and an affidavit describing the circumstances. Cases of loss and theft go through an additional Immigration Department review before the new document is produced.

  • It cannot be used again. Reporting invalidates the document permanently, and a recovered passport must be returned to the Passport Office or the nearest Immigration Office.

  • Any citizen of Antigua and Barbuda. You may act for yourself or through a legal representative holding power of attorney, and the procedure can be managed in full by an agent licensed by the Government.

  • A renewal takes roughly 1.5 months, with about half of that spent on Passport Office review. Replacing a damaged passport takes at least 1 month. If the passport was reported lost or stolen, the case may run beyond 3 months, because the Immigration Department has to complete its investigation before a new document is produced.

  • Yes. Applications can be filed through Antigua and Barbuda diplomatic missions, subject to local procedural rules and consular fees.

    Working through a licensed agent, most clients complete the procedure without travelling to the Caribbean at all.

  • No. The Antigua passport renewal form can be downloaded online, but the procedure itself still requires offline steps — document certification and physical submission to the Passport Office.

    A licensed agent can usually run the whole case remotely on your behalf, but that is delegation, not digital submission: no official online channel exists.

  • A child submits the same core package as an adult, but they require the declaration of parent or guardian signed by both parents where they are married. The government fee is US $500 for applicants under 18, against US $1,000 for adults, and passports for children under 16 are issued for 5 years.

  • You will need official evidence: a marriage certificate, divorce decree, or deed poll-style record, with translation and certification where applicable.

    We check that names and dates agree across every document in the package before filing, since inconsistencies are a frequent cause of returned applications.

  • Under the rule currently in force, at least 5 days within the 5 years following the grant of citizenship.

    An increase to 30 days has been announced, but it is not yet in effect, and no start date has been set, so the applicable figure depends on the rule in force when you file. We confirm it at the assessment stage.

    The requirement applies to the first renewal only. Once that renewal is complete, adult passports are issued with 10-year validity and subsequent renewals follow the standard procedure without a further stay requirement.
