Renewal applies to a passport that is expiring or is not yet in the biometric format the government now requires. Replacement applies when the passport has been lost, stolen, or damaged, or when your personal details have changed. 

The result is the same biometric passport; the evidence required, the fee, and the timeline are not — a lost or stolen passport in particular needs its paperwork filed a month ahead of the application itself.

You submit a completed St Kitts and Nevis passport renewal form with your current passport, a birth certificate, your Certificate of Citizenship or Registration where applicable, and recent photographs, and pay the applicable government fee.

Report it to the police and file the affidavit, police report, and Passport Recovery Form with the Passport Office — this has to happen at least 1 month before you can submit the actual replacement application, so starting immediately matters. From there, a licensed agent can manage the rest of the case without you needing to be in St Kitts and Nevis.

For a lost or stolen passport, you need the completed replacement form, an affidavit, a police report, and a Passport Recovery Form, filed at least a month ahead, alongside a birth certificate and your Certificate of Citizenship or Registration where applicable. 

For a damaged passport, no affidavit or police report is needed; you submit the damaged document itself, in its original physical form, together with the Passport Recovery Form.

Both procedures typically take up to 2 months once the application is accepted, depending on the submission channel and the authorities’ workload. 

Renewal processing is faster if the expedited government fee is paid. A lost or stolen passport takes longer overall, since the process is divided into two steps:

• first, you submit an affidavit, police report, and Passport Recovery Form;
• a month later, you submit a replacement application.

Investors who obtained citizenship by investment pay $250 for a standard renewal, $350 for expedited, and $500 for a St Kitts passport replacement. On top of this, CBI citizens pay a separate biometric enrolment fee. Courier delivery, certification, and translation are billed separately.

All CBI citizens and their dependants must complete biometric enrolment by July 31st, 2027. After the deadline, non-biometric passports are deactivated for international travel until enrolment is completed. 

The fee is $2,500 for the investor, $2,000 per adult dependant, and $1,300 per child under 16.

No. The certificate of naturalisation is valid for life and does not expire; it serves as your proof of citizenship for every future renewal. It only needs action in two cases: your legal name has changed, so the certificate must reflect it, or the original has been lost.

The process follows the standard renewal but with extra documents: government name-change forms, your marriage certificate or official name-change document, your previous passport, and your certificate of naturalisation in your previous name. 

If the name change happened outside St Kitts and Nevis, the authorities must formally recognise it with a foreign court order, marriage certificate, or deed poll as proof before the renewal application is submitted. The indicative cost for an applicant aged 16 or over is around $4,000, and the process can be completed remotely.
